If you sew or know someone who sews, collect those lil scraps or unwanted fabric and turn it into something wonderful.  I spent the afternoon getting my craft on, making some x-mas gifts for some friends, ok and maybe one for myself…

The base was made out of eco-fi, a felt material that is made from recycled post consumer plastic bottles, and fabric scraps for a pop of color and interest.  Instead of suffocating at a busy mall, try making something with your hands, and be conscious where every material comes from.  If you know how to use a pair of scissors and how to thread a needle and tie a knot you are set. You can make small little pillows using more unwanted scraps as stuffing, you can also make broaches, ipod/phone covers with scraps.  Dont have any material laying around? Try going to a second hand store and buying a nice scarf, old ties and bandannas, or if you have clothes that are stained and cannot be given away, why not try making those scraps into something dandy.

Sure sure, its not like i harvested the materials myself, and spun the fabric, but its just trying to figure out uses for those left over materials so that they don’t end up in a landfill

If you want to make a greener statement, out of scraps sew a card holder, and include a receipt for a donation to your favorite green organization, OR even better make products from recycled items to sell to others for Christmas, and donate the proceeds to your fav green cause i.e. http://www.davidsuzuki.org/Donation_Centre/fundraiser/

Have a lovely sustainable day <3
