So I apologize for the utter lack of updates. My laptop stolen a while back, then finals with school, and then a trip back to visit family for the holidays.
But my heart has some what been saddened as of late with all this snow, the streets i use to zip and and down, and in between cars with are now covered in, snow, snow, more snow, with some sprinkles of ice. Now for some, this would mean that their better halves would be put in storage for the winter, but others just take winter as it comes. I was paroozing for some winter cycling tips, for once i get enough money to take my darling into the shop for a tune up and some spiffy winter tires, I am going to try my hand at winter cycling.
The things i have read consist of making sure you are visible to the motor vehicles on the road, winter conditions only make things worse. So make sure you have lighting, and reflective tape/clothing. Also be sure to give yourself more space between vehicles, and just as if you were in a car, slow down. Amoung other things, take your bike in for a tune up, and do weekly maintenance. A tip from a friend who bikes here in Montreal through the winter suggested that go into the metro (train station) with your bike on cold wet days to dry out your chain, or it will freeze and snap. Other things, layers, and more layers. The thinner the better, brings extras. For more info visit URBAN VELO and MEC.
Bundle up, bike safe, and have a lovely sustainable day.
