Spring is indeed here, and the sweet smell of Bixi is in the air. Lovely city of Montreal its that time of year again, time to trade in your metro passes, and or vehicles for the one and only Bixi!! Today the city will begin to install stations, with bicycles soon to follow. In the meantime, go online and order your monthly or yearly bixi memberships. Since introducing this one of a kind system last year, Bixi has not only captured the heart of this beautiful city, but has been adopted in Boston, Minneapolis, London, and is about to kick off in Melbourne. Here a few helpful tips that I have not previously blogged on. 1)Often times you can arrive at a bixi docking station to find out that there are no available places to return your bike. Do not fret, simply identify yourself with your credit card and at NO EXTRA CHARGE you will be given 15 minutes to locate another bixi station. Locating another station can also be a breeze if you are mobile, click here to find out how you can access maps of bixi stations, as well as how many bixis and spots to dock are available!! 2) The second tip is to be sure to get a helmet!! It makes my heart sing to see the business men in their suits,socks tucked into their pants on their bixi’s with a helmet on their head. So plan ahead. 3) Remember we need to share the road, so bike safe out there and obey traffic lights, and just smile politely at vehicles and be sure to remind them on all the fun they are missing out on by being in their cars.
